Get to know me, Lucy! From my Crohn’s diagnosis at 18 to navigating life with a chronic illness, this is my journey — the ups, downs, and everything in between.

My work with Crohn’s and Colitis UK and beyond — raising awareness, sharing my voice on TV, and advocating for better IBD care in the UK, including in Parliament.

A collection of moments from my journey — from personal milestones to media appearances and advocacy work, all captured here.

Hiya, I'm Lucy!

I’m 23 years old and was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 2020 at just 18. Within 24 hours, my life completely changed, and nothing has been the same since. Through failed treatments, surgeries, and countless hospital stays, I discovered an incredible community of people living with chronic illnesses — and I knew I wanted to spread positivity and kindness to others facing similar challenges. Now, I share my journey online, through all the highs and lows, to raise awareness and help others feel less alone. I’ve had the privilege of speaking on platforms like BBC News and ITV News, and even advocating for improved IBD care in the UK at Parliament.

I am currently taking Ustekinumab to help control my symptoms and in January 2024 I had Laparoscopic Right Hemicolectomy to remove 20cm of Bowel, Cecum and Appendix, after getting a bowel obstruction from a stricture.

I am still not in remission but keeping my fingers crossed for 2025!

Join me as I continue to share my story, raise awareness, and empower others in the chronic illness community.

Together, we can support one another and create change!

Meet my little Crohn’s angel Luna!

We brought her into our lives when I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease to lift my spirits — and she’s been spreading joy ever since. She’s a little bundle of craziness and love, always making me smile through the toughest flare-ups and somehow knowing exactly when I need a cuddle most.

Ambassador Work with Crohn's and Colitis UK

Crohn’s and Colitis UK is an incredible charity dedicated to raising awareness for people living with IBD, offering invaluable resources that even healthcare professionals have referred me to during my journey.

I’ve proudly served as an ambassador for Crohn’s and Colitis UK for four years, raising nearly £4,000 through the Walk It Challenge in 2021. My advocacy work has taken me to Parliament, where I spoke at an APPG meeting, and to the House of Lords for the launch of the IBD report The State of IBD Care in the UK.

In addition to writing blogs for the charity’s website, I’ve shared my story through various media appearances, including BBC News, BBC Radio Solent, ITV News, and numerous press features. In 2023, I was honored to work with the charity’s media team on the Cut the Crap: Check for Crohn’s and Colitis campaign, helping to raise awareness and encourage early diagnosis.

"Lucy is a real powerhouse. She has taken her passion for spreading the word about living with Inflammatory Bowel Disease and turned it into something really special. As well as building her considerable social media presence, Lucy has appeared in the press, on the radio, the TV and even represented Crohn's & Colitis UK in Parliament. She is a brilliant advocate for the Crohn's & Colitis UK community"
