Frequently asked questions

What is IBD, and how is it different from IBS?

IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) is a chronic autoimmune condition that causes inflammation in the digestive tract, including Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) is a non-inflammatory disorder that affects gut function but doesn’t cause damage to the intestines.

What are the symptoms of Crohn’s Disease?

Common symptoms include abdominal pain, diarrhea, fatigue, weight loss, and internal bleeding. Symptoms can vary in severity and come and go in periods called flare-ups and remission. But everyone suffers differently, for me the worst are pain and fatigue, for others it may be different.

How is Crohn’s Disease diagnosed and treated?

Diagnosis involves tests like blood work, endoscopy, and scans. Treatment can include medication to reduce inflammation, such as steroids or immunosuppressants, and in some cases, surgery to remove damaged sections.

Can you live a normal life with Crohn’s Disease?

While Crohn’s can be challenging, many people live full, happy lives with proper management, support, and care. Life may not be what you expected it to be but you can without a doubt live an amazing life regardless of health challenges.
